What I collect, why, and your rights — in plain English. Because you're trusting me with information about your child, I take this seriously.
Who I am
This website is operated by Louise Frazer, NZSTA Registered Speech-Language Therapist, trading as Communicate Canterbury, Canterbury, New Zealand. For anything related to this policy or your personal information, please use the contact form or phone 029 128 6391.
What I collect, and why
- Pre-screening form — your name, email address and phone number, your child’s first name and age, the developmental stage and areas of concern you select, and anything you write in the message field. I need these to review your child’s needs, send you the right documents, and prepare for our first contact. Your submission is emailed to me (and a copy of the documents is emailed to you) — it is not stored in a database on this website.
- Contact form — your name, email address and message, so I can reply.
- Technical information — when you submit a form, your IP address is used for spam protection and briefly held in a counter that limits automated submissions. These counters are purged automatically.
Health information
Information about your child’s speech, language and development is health information. I handle it in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020: it is used only to provide speech-language therapy services, kept confidential, never sold or shared for marketing, and shared with others (for example your GP or your child’s school) only with your consent or where the law requires it.
Cookies & analytics
This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies and uses no advertising or cross-site analytics — which is why you won’t see a cookie banner.
To understand how the site is used, I use Umami — a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It is cookieless, collects no personal information, anonymises visits, and cannot track you across other websites. It records things like which pages are viewed and how many people book a call, never who you are.
Third-party services
- Cloudflare Turnstile — protects the forms from bots. It processes limited technical signals from your browser (such as your IP address) under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- Email delivery — form submissions and document copies travel through a standard email provider.
- Hosting — this website is hosted in New Zealand.
How long I keep it
Pre-screening submissions and correspondence are kept as part of my clinical and business records for as long as professional record-keeping obligations require. Anti-spam counters holding IP addresses are purged automatically, typically within an hour.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code you may ask for a copy of the personal or health information I hold about you or your child, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted — just get in touch. If you’re not happy with how I handle your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date below.
